Shopify → Shopware

Outgrown Shopify? Move to Shopware 6 without starting over

We migrate products, customers, orders and every ranking URL from Shopify to Shopware 6 — and rebuild the parts Shopify never let you control.

Why brands move from Shopify to Shopware

Shopify is a great place to start. As a business grows, a few limits keep coming back: B2B price lists and customer-specific catalogues, checkout customisation, the cost of apps and transaction fees, and where customer data is hosted.

Shopware 6 is open source, can be hosted in the EU or on your own infrastructure, and handles B2B and B2C in one system. You own the code, so the next feature is a development question — not a question of which app might support it.

What we move from Shopify

Data

  • Products, variants, options and metafields
  • Collections → categories and dynamic product groups
  • Customers and addresses
  • Order history
  • Blog posts and pages

SEO & functionality

  • /products/ and /collections/ URLs → Shopware URLs with 301s
  • Titles, meta descriptions and alt texts
  • App functionality replaced by Shopware features or plugins
  • Theme rebuilt as a Shopware theme or headless storefront
Process

How the migration runs

  1. Audit & inventory

We catalogue your data, extensions, integrations and every URL that ranks or earns traffic.

  2. Mapping

    Field-by-field data mapping and a complete old-URL → new-URL redirect map.

  3. Build

The new store is built and themed on staging, with integrations reconnected.

  4. Rehearsal migrations

We run the data migration repeatedly against staging and check the results with you.

  5. Cut-over

Final delta migration, DNS switch and redirects live — planned for your quietest hours.

  6. Aftercare

We watch 404s, Search Console and orders closely in the weeks after launch.

Where Shopify migrations go wrong — and how we avoid it

Customer passwords

Shopify does not export password hashes. We plan a friendly password-reset flow so returning customers are not locked out.

Variant limits and options

Shopify’s option model differs from Shopware’s property system. We map it deliberately so filters work from day one.

Apps holding your data

Reviews, subscriptions and loyalty often live in third-party apps. We export them separately and find the Shopware equivalent.

Lost rankings

Shopify’s fixed URL structure changes on Shopware. A complete redirect map is built and tested before launch, not after.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Shopify to Shopware migration take?

A standard B2C store typically takes 8–14 weeks including the theme build. B2B requirements, many integrations or a headless frontend extend that. You get a concrete plan after the audit.

Will we lose SEO rankings?

Some fluctuation right after launch is normal. With a complete 301 redirect map, preserved metadata and monitoring afterwards, rankings usually settle back within weeks.

Can customers keep their passwords?

No — Shopify does not provide password hashes. Customers set a new password on their first login, and we make that step as smooth as possible.

Where will Shopware be hosted?

Wherever suits you: a specialised Shopware host in the EU, your own cloud account, or Shopware’s SaaS offering. We help you choose.
