Shopware upgrades

Get your Shopware 6 shop onto a supported version — without surprises

Major upgrades such as 6.4 → 6.7 touch PHP, Symfony, Vue and every plugin you run. We plan them, test them on staging and launch without downtime.

Why upgrades get postponed — and why that gets expensive

Each Shopware major release removes deprecated APIs, and every custom plugin and third-party extension has to follow. Skip one or two majors and the gap turns into a mini-replatforming project.

Staying current keeps you on security patches, on supported PHP versions and able to use new Shopware features. We make upgrades a routine, not a crisis.

How an upgrade runs

  1. Compatibility audit

We inventory every plugin, app, theme and custom change and check it against the target version.

  2. Upgrade plan

Which extensions get updated, replaced or rewritten — with effort per item, before any work starts.

  3. Code migration

Custom plugins and themes updated to the new APIs, deprecations removed.

  4. Staging & testing

Full upgrade on a copy of production, then checkout, integration and regression tests.

  5. Zero-downtime launch

Planned cut-over with a rollback path, followed by close monitoring.

Frequently asked questions

Can we jump several versions at once?

Usually yes — for example 6.4 directly to 6.7 — but the code migration must cover every intermediate breaking change. The compatibility audit tells you the real effort.

What if a plugin we use is no longer maintained?

We replace it with a maintained alternative or rebuild the functionality as a custom plugin, whichever is cheaper to own long-term.

We are still on Shopware 5.

That is a migration rather than an upgrade, because Shopware 6 is a completely new system.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance after the upgrade?

Yes. A small monthly retainer covers minor updates, security patches and planning for the next major.

Still on Shopware 5?

Moving from 5 to 6 is a rebuild with data migration, not an upgrade. We have a dedicated process for it.
